As meal managers and caregivers, Ugandan women are the gatekeepers of nutrition and health in their families.
Drawing on that unique role, the Lead Mother program run by HarvestPlus and partners engages Ugandan mothers in galvanizing communities toward positive change.
The women at the heart of this initiative are boldly invested in their communities, and are leading lights in the quest to deliver better nutrition and health to farming households through biofortified crops.
One such lead mother is Nakijoba Anet Wadega from the western district of Kakumiro. In this video, Nakijoba explains her work and impact in the community.
