Mama Ndhisa: Leading Communities to Better Nutrition

Mothers are key to improving nutrition and health in their families. In Uganda, lead mothers are also dedicated to improving their communities by promoting nutritious crops, along with good hygiene and sanitation practices.

The lead mothers in the eastern Ugandan district of Kamuli are fondly called "Mama Ndhisa", reflecting the communities' affection for these mothers and the vitamin A-rich orange sweet potatoes that they promote.
